How TrackFame decides who to include, how we research and verify profiles, and the standards our team follows.
At a glance
- We cover people known for their public work or role, from every country — never private individuals.
- Every profile is researched in our own words, checked against reliable sources and reviewed by an editor.
- References are listed on every profile so you can verify what we say.
- No paid placement: rankings come from real activity, and no one can pay to be featured.
This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
1.Our aim
TrackFame aims to be a trustworthy, neutral first stop for learning about famous people from every country and field. Every profile is researched and published by our own team; members help by suggesting people and pointing out errors, but cannot publish or change profiles themselves. This page explains how we decide what to publish and how we check it.
2.Who we cover
We cover people who are publicly known for their work or public role and who have received significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. We look for signals such as:
- sustained coverage in reputable national or international media;
- major awards, honours, records or competition results;
- notable published, recorded, built or performed works;
- elected office, senior public positions, or leadership of significant organisations;
- lasting historical, cultural, scientific or social influence.
We do not publish profiles of private individuals, and popularity on social media alone does not qualify. We consider people from every country equally, and actively look to close gaps in under-represented regions and fields.
3.From suggestion to published profile
- Suggestion or idea. A member’s suggestion, or our own research plan, starts a new profile. Duplicates are checked automatically and by hand.
- Research. A researcher is assigned, checks every claim against sources and writes the profile in our own words. If something is unclear we mark the suggestion needs info and ask the contributor.
- Review. An editor reviews the draft for accuracy, sourcing, neutrality, privacy and copyright before it is published.
- Publication and credit. The profile goes live with its references. If it came from a suggestion, the member is credited by name unless they have chosen to hide credits.
- Maintenance. Profiles are updated when new information appears, and whenever a report or correction request is confirmed. The “last updated” date on each profile shows when it last changed.
4.Sources we rely on
- Preferred: reputable news organisations with editorial oversight, official websites and statements, academic and reference publications, award bodies, government and court records, and the person’s own verified channels (for uncontroversial facts about themselves).
- Used with care: interviews and memoirs (for the person’s own view), trade publications, and local media.
- Not used: anonymous blogs, fan sites, open wikis, forums, social-media rumours, press releases presented as independent coverage, and AI-generated text.
Key facts — dates, nationality, positions held, awards, major works — need at least one reliable source, and contested or sensitive claims need more than one. Sources are listed in each profile’s References section so readers can check them.
5.Neutrality and fairness
We describe people fairly and proportionately, in plain language, without promotional or disparaging wording. Where sources disagree we say so rather than choosing a side. Controversies are included only when they are well documented and significant to the person’s public life, and are given due weight rather than dominating the profile.
Facts about living people are treated with particular care. We do not publish home addresses, private contact details, identity numbers or financial details, or information about relatives who are not public figures. Health, sexuality, religion and similar personal topics appear only when the person has made them public and they are relevant to their public life.
6.Independence and conflicts of interest
Our ranking, “trending” and “popular” lists are generated from real activity on the site — views and follows — and are never sold. No one can pay to be added, to be featured, or to change a profile. Team members must declare any personal or financial connection to a person and do not research or review profiles where they have one. Suggestions from a person’s representatives are welcome, but go through the same checks as any other.
7.Images
We use photos we have the right to use: images released under a free licence, official press images supplied for editorial use, images from contributors who own them, or images used with permission. Where no suitable image exists we show a simple monogram instead. Rights holders can ask us to credit or remove an image through our copyright process.
8.Corrections
Small fixes (a typo, a broken link) are made quietly. Corrections to substantive facts are made as soon as they are verified and reflected in the profile’s “last updated” date. Read how to request a correction or removal.
